Blacklist fans, I’ve got a very weird theory!
I just finished watching the 8th season of The Blacklist and I have a theory about who Reddington really is. I don’t know if this theory was already shared on here but I just want to say it in case nobody before me posted about this theory.

Theory starts here! Theory starts here! My theory is that Reddington is actually Liz’ mum! He told Liz in the last episode that he knew her mum better than anyone else. We also know that her mum is still alive and we know that she wanted to protect her daughter at all costs, and we all know there’s no better way to do that than as a fearsome, rich criminal, right!?
What sparked this theory to life was the last episode when Reddington was holding Liz in his arms and during that we got flashbacks of Liz’ mum holding her in her arms.
There’s also the whole thing with the letter. Reddington told Liz tjat if she read the letter from her mum before she killed him, Liz wouldn’t be able to kill Reddington. And that’s because it’s written in the letter that her mum is Reddington and Liz obviously wouldn’t want to kill Reddington if she knew that he was her mum.
And in general, the way he holds her and kisses her on the forehead and all that is also quite suspicious, I think.
If my theory is confirmed to be true then I feel very sorry for all the Lizington shippers.
That’s just my two cents, guys! I don’t know if this theory is entertained by other fans here on Tumblr, then please let me know!

honestly I cant believe the most harebrained theory of The Blacklist proved true lmao please remind me again why I ever watched this show and why Im almost certainly going to see it through to the end????
Okay, just finished TBL 8.12. Spoilers ahead.
Rakitin is dead. Red has an endgame. Cooper is fully against Red and thinks Red is a traitor.
My favorite scene was when Red confronted the Russian. The intensity of Reds emotions as well as the fact that he was trying so damn hard not to cry speaks volumes of the nature of what Red is doing. He spoke of an end. I wonder if that end is taking down the Cabal for killing his family. The theory that our Reds family was killed by the Cabal is becoming more plausible.
I wasnt a fan of how Red manipulated Park, but I guess it was necessary to his endgame (and honestly, Rakitin was annoying asf). Rakitins death scene was very shocking, but I somehow felt relieved by it. I like how Red was trying to keep the task force safe because he had formed an emotional connection to them.
I found it very funny that Panabaker voiced the fandoms thoughts when she shouted, Are you Harold Cooper or Elizabeth Keen?! Cooper really is the new Liz lmao.
The most important thing, however, is THAT TEASER AT THE END!! Oh my god, RayAnne is REEEEEEEEEEAL! Theyre making it happen! The way Red and Annes foreheads and noses were touching, about to kiss! And oh god theyre targeting her. ANNE MUST NOT DIE!
Anyways, cant wait for some RayAnne in two weeks!

Several years ago, I read what seemed like a far out theory regarding The Blacklist, wherein Katerina Rostova was Raymond Reddington.
We just watched the penultimate episode for the current season (aka S8:E21) and HOLY SHIT WAS THAT PERSON RIGHT?!?!
Losing my mind over this but mostly because I cant believe a random tumblr user whose handle I cant recall might have fucking called it out of nowhere?!?!
I’m hearing Ress saved Reddington’s life tonight.
My resslington’s heart is happy :’D Not happy enough to watch the episode, but still.
Maybe I’ll gif shirtless Diego in 1080p ahaha
And boy, most of my predictions about psychopathic Liz are coming true.
Honestly, how y’all still shipping her now with someone, the chick has gone off the rails completely once and for all.

Im having a hard time seeing Townsend as a villain, like I know he wants to kill Red and now Elizabeth but like…I would too if I were him and saw my family murdered in front of me, Id wanna kill everyone involved. Its clear that revenge is his only motivation, everything else, the money, the power, its just a means to an end. Hes a sympathetic villain to me.

Q.: I do want to ask about kind of the consequences of this finale. I mean, spoiler alert for anyone who hasnt watched the episode, but in the finale Liz decides to side with her mom. How do you think Lizs decision to kind of align with her mom could maybe affect the Task Force?
JB: One thing to point out is obviously we – like John said, we didnt get to finish our last three episodes and while that arc may seem a little accelerated in – because it was done in that final episode, I think its gonna be very clear where shes going when we start next season and I think – I think it blows everything up in sort of the best way possible. I think its an inevitable turn that is going to be really fun to watch unravel, you know, and, you know, blow things up.
JE: And you know, we usually obviously finish off all the stories that were contemplating in a given year and then we start the next year thinking oh my god, well we did all the big stuff at the end of last year, where are we gonna start. This year, we have all the big stuff that we were unable to finish at the end of the last season that is going to start this season so the next season, season 8 starts in a much more heightened, dramatic place than normal seasons do because we are gonna tell the story that we were unable to tell at the end of last season.
Q.: But you are carrying over the remaining kind of three unproduced episodes into the start of the season?
JE: Oh yeah, we write an episode, we film it. Were not throwing it out. Were too lazy. Were not gonna be like oh, you know, lets just start over. Yeah, were using them.
Q.: Theres also Reddingtons illness which, you know, has been a theme, a seed thats been planted in this series. How does that affect his perspective on his life and his relationships?
JE: Since were talking about animation and graphic novels, you know, he has a certain supernatural, all-powerful kind of comic book bad guy vibe and the idea that he is now going to be afflicted by something that makes it – him – less – makes him more vulnerable, less superhuman, that, you know, he has to giảm giá with his own mortality I think will give him a different perspective, not only on his life, but on the people that he is interacting with and so I think it will have a very humanizing effect on him.
JB: You know its something weve teased out for a while but it something were gonna drill down on and learn a lot more about.
Q.: Lastly, before I kind of let you all go, you know it may be a while until, you know, season 8 drops, you know, but the finale closes with Liz embracing her dark side with a really cool – I feel like one of my favorite scenes of the episode where shes kind of standing on the rooftop peering over the city. What can you tell us about where season 8 will pick up? Any teases you can give us to tide us over this very very long wait?
JB: Well I would say that last shot, that was all Matt, that sort of very comic-book graphic, you know, graphic novel sort of vibe at the end of the season which I thought was fantastic. I think next season is – well it picks up immediately and its a rocket ship, its very – its urgent and I think its unlike anything weve done. Wouldnt you say, John? Its unlike any of the other seasons in a really great way and it its going to be very different –
JE: Yeah, the whole point of her siding with her mother when we were originally coming up with the end of the season was so in short order that would have an enormous consequence in her relationship to Red and we will be exploring that and having that consequence revealed within the first two episodes next year.

That end to the season finale of The Blacklist was heartbreaking. So. Fucking. Heartbreaking.
But I will not rage quit.
Honestly, I dont think anyone is to blame for what happened except the writers. Why get angry at a fictional criminal for conditioning the truth when you can get angry at the real-life writers for approving this?
I honestly thought we wouldve gotten answers.
Now we will be able to see how Red copes with what he ultimately failed to do.
We still have little Agnes. She still needs protecting.
Perhaps, when S9 comes along, well see Pinky swooping in to protect Agnes?
That will be very interesting to watch.
