I have an issue with half of my máy tính screen (left) flickering. It’s not just flickering normally, it’s basically showing small color bars changing colors flickering rapidly every once in a while on the screen. This has been happening for a month or so now, but recently it got worse. I suspect it’s because of where I place my máy tính. I have two small tables (they’re exactly the same) and place them side by side so I have enough space for my máy tính and I put my máy tính right in the middle of both tables. The left table’s leg is a bit broken, so it leans slightly lower than the right table. Because I use my máy tính on these tables for most of the day, I think that with less tư vấn than the right side of the máy tính, something inside the máy tính screen may have gotten loose but I have no idea how to fix it.
I haven’t really seen other people have this problem. Anything close to it is the left or right side of a screen being completely blank or black. I feel like if my problem persists, it will eventually end up that way too.
What is the make and full model name of the máy tính ?
If you have a monitor connect it to the máy tính and see if it shows the same display problem or not.
Hello and welcome to TSG!! If you gently flex or twist the screen, or squeeze gently, but firmly, along the sides and bottom, does it affect the flickering? Does it come and go, or is it like that from the start (not after a warm-up period)?
My initial guess is that the screen itself is going south. It is not likely due to the way you’ve been using it (on uneven tables). These are simply first reaction guesses … How old is the máy tính, in addition to Allan’s questions above?

Windows 10 I’m not sure if that’s what you needed, but I took a picture of it as well. I connected it to a monitor and the monitor worked fine, no problems. So while my máy tính screen had flickered again, the monitor showed nothing at all and was completely fine.

I forgot to mention it, but yes, it doesn’t just flicker the whole day. Sometimes it flickers even after I move it a little. So I tried to touch the sides, and it began to flicker. In response to your question, it comes and goes mostly. I had a strong feeling it was because of the tables, but now I’m not sure. The máy tính can’t be that old, I bought it less than a year ago I’m sure. As for the actual máy tính, I’m not sure how old it is. But I think these models came out around 2017.
I, personally, have a very low regard for Acer anything. That being said, however, there are good and bad apples in every basket.
I still believe the LCD itself is going out. You’ve got a few choices. You can ignore it and use it connected to an external monitor for the rest of it’s useful life. You could repair it (yourself, if you have a bit of technical/mechanical aptitude). You could have someone else repair it (could be pricey, perhaps costing more than the máy tính is worth). You could trash it and replace it. I’m going to guess you may opt for one of the first two choices, but I don’t know where your head is on all of this. A quick look shows that the screen seems to be readily available in the $40-45 US range, and there should be YouTube videos that will walk you through the process. If you decide to go that route, watch one of them to see if this might be something you could handle. It is really not that difficult, and the tools required are typically minimal.
As I said, though, this is my best guess, and your pressure testing bears this out. If pressing around the screen affects the issue, it is very likely the LCD itself.
Thanks for your help. I’ve never had any problems with this máy tính until now, so I’m considering just replacing it unfortunately. But if there’s a high chance I can replace the screen and that works instead, I would want to try that out first. If you don’t mind, can you tell me what screen I can replace it with and recommend a video I could watch to help me with replacing it? I don’t have much experience with physically fixing laptops, but I don’t think it should be that hard if I had a good tutorial to follow. Again, thank you for the help.
Here’s a video. I did not watch it clear through, but it should be fine. View it and be sure you are comfortable with it. It is really not too difficult if you are careful.
As far as the replacement LCD itself, I would suggest opening the screen assembly and getting the exact part number from the back of the screen. It should be on a label on the back. Acer may use different models of LCD in a specific model máy tính. Do an Internet search for that part number or model number. You may end up with something other than that exact part number, but it will probably be due to a different manufacturer. Also, I don’t know what country you are in, so referencing a US distributor for someone in another country may not be helpful.

It could be a cable fault, I would consider getting and fitting a new motherboard to screen cable first and only getting a new screen if that doesn’t fix it.
